and Having Complete Confidence - Hack Spirit

If you’re like most people, at times you second guess yourself when making a decision. We all know what it feels like to lack self-confidence.

However, some people suffer from self-doubt so severely that even after they decide to do something, they can spend weeks or even months wondering whether it was the right decision.

This is not a fun way to live life.

So the question is:

How can we learn to let go of self-doubt and fully back ourselves?

According to spiritual guru Deepak Chopra, we need to change our mindset with how we see the universe.

Check out his words of wisdom here:

“If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another.

The universe has no fixed agenda. Once you make any decision, it works around that decision. There is no right or wrong, only a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and action that you experience.

If this sounds too mystical, refer again to the body. Every significant vital sign- body temperature, heart rate, oxygen consumption, hormone level, brain activity, and so on- alters the moment you decide to do anything… decisions are signals telling your body, mind, and environment to move in a certain direction.” – Deepak Chopra

While the above Deepak Chopra quote offered valuable wisdom with how the universe works, it can be hard to figure out how to actually implement the required mindset.

So below are 5 quick strategies you can implement in your daily life to stick with decisions.

1) Trust yourself

When you second guess yourself, it’s usually because of discomfort. But when you think about it, all growth occurs from discomfort. Even if it’s not an obvious positive result to begin with, by doing something different you’ll connect the dots in the future.

2) Choose a new thought

Practising mindfulness involves taking a step back and observing the mind. When you do that, you’ll begin to realize that you’re not the mind itself, but you’re the one watching the mind. This means you have the power to believe something different.

Back your decision with your actions.

3) Assess what you’re learning

If you’re not willing to back yourself, then you won’t be able to learn. Learning comes from going all in, and assessing what you can do better next time.

4) Get comfortable with mistakes

Everybody makes mistakes and it’s the ones who constantly make mistakes that gain the most. That’s how you learn and grow. Ask yourself “What if I did make a wrong decision? Is it okay for me to have made a mistake?” And then let it go.

5) Finally, go easy on yourself

You are not who you were yesterday and you are not who you will be tomorrow. So, make peace with that. Life is full of second chances. We are always in a state of evolution.
